A part of me wants to fix it.

Stepping aside from the usual beauty post, I wanted to write a small personal post to relieve some of the stress that's been building up in me.

The one problem stressing me out right now are my friends. The sad thing is not only did I have my growing suspicions confirmed, but to finally see my friend in a whole different light; I am at the point where I can't see the good in her anymore.
Seeing her and another friend, who used to be SO close to each other barely talk anymore because of a certain problem neither want to address, I'm saddened by that fact.
After listening to my friend tell me the whole truth of what has been building up for months and months inside of her, I finally realized that it wasn't me who was trying to self destruct our friendship. I finally saw it as: "She doesn't think I'm worth the time to tell anything to."
And at that, I am THE most disappointed. To cheer people up, I go about sending them random facts of my day, or just to tell them how I'm doing.
To think that she doesn't even have the decency to tell me about any part of her life makes me... disappointed. What does our friendship even mean?

I'm torn, and it's become so hard to even face her.

Revlon Lip Butters!

Where I work, we only get Revlon products. Mind you, not everything, but for the most part we occasionally get new releases.
The beginning of this month, we received a display of 24, 2 of each colours so here are the 12 colours that we had!

 From Left to Right:
Pink Truffle, Sugar Lollipop, Brown Sugar, Cotton Candy, Berry Smoothie, Cupcake, Gumdrop, Lollipop, Strawberry Shortcake, Sugar Plum, Sweet Tart, Creme Brulee

The four testers, and colours I tried

In the end, out of the 4 I swatched I liked berry smoothie and pink truffle the best. In the end I picked up pink truffle because I don't have a lip product that's a similar colour.
But then rexall was having a buy one get one free on lip products, and I realized that it'd be cheaper to get them from there than buying it from work!
Once I got to my store though, there was really nothing left. I ended up picking up berry smoothie (because I really did like the colour) and raspberry pie.
I don't have pictures of raspberry pie, I'm sure you can find them on other blogs. Truth be told it's a VERY bold colour, not something I could pull off on a regular basis. But I do enjoy sheering it out and topping it off with a balm or something.

Thoughts:
Personally, I'm not TOO much of a fan. I know the hype was insane, and these are more moisturizing than a regular lipstick, but after a couple of hours it dries out my lips like no other.
Aside from the somewhat drying formula, I do like the sheen it gives my lips. A glossy finish, but without the gloss! I personally don't like extremely glossy lips, so I was pleased with the fact that it wasn't extremely "shiny" on my lips.
The product is also extremely soft! You would have to be very careful to not leave it in a warm place, or apply it very hard. It will crush, break, and smush all over the container.

Overall: I like the product, I would prefer to buy this over regular lipsticks as I can quickly reapply without using gloss. It has a variety of colours, and seeing as I'm not a much of a lip product person, so it's perfect for simplistic me.

Christmas gifts and a small haul

Hello everyone! I'm taking a small break from my intense weekend cramming session (all in preparation for a quiz I have on Monday), to write a small post.

This post is what I received as gifts from friends, and what I bought for myself.

Continue for pictures, and explanations!
ALSO ** all pictures were taken with my phone, therefore quality will not be the greatest

Coastal Scents Haul, and Project 10 Pan!

First of all, I want to start this off with
HAPPY 2012 EVERYONE!

I know I posted my acne story as my first blog post of 2012, but I figured this is more of a thought out post, whereas my acne one was something that came to my mind and I just had to write about it.
Anyhow I hope that everyone had a wonderful 2011, and 2012 will be an even better year. :)

Post holidays, I received some items that were sent extremely late.
A while back when I was browsing online, when I saw that coastal scents was having their 40% off sale!
I've never purchased anything from coastal scents (CS), being from Canada I'm extremely weary of ordering anything from the US just because shipping fees tend to be completely overpriced.
But I wanted a new setting powder, and heard that pure silica powder is the best. I was lemming it for a while, but never wanted to pay full price and shipping for the one item.
After browsing the website, adding some things to my cart, I calculated my shipping and the total was $5 for all the items I wanted! I was shocked! $5!! Naturally I jumped at this opportunity and ordered things.

Continue on for loads of (somewhat) blurry pictures and my thoughts! :)

My acne story

I don't have any personal pictures of the products I used, but I was writing a review for one of the products that I used in the past to fight my acne and released that I was going extremely in depth for a product review!

Background story: Growing up I was never into makeup. I was more of a tomboy, and didn't have the disposable income to buy any makeup at all. Therefore my skincare routine was simple. Wake up in the morning, wash face with water, done.
But even then I still had big pores and blackheads (which I still have to this day),  but I had little to no acne.

It was only after I started getting into makeup that my skin reacted quite badly, and in particular I blame it on the spectro jel moisturizer for combo oily skin. Spectro Jel is a cleanser only available in Canada (or so I've heard) and it's similar to Cetaphil, except that it's more a gel consistency. I bought the cleanser and it came with a free full size bottle of the moisturizer for $11 at the superstore.
For me, when I do exfoliating masks, I like washing it off with a simple cleanser. At the time I only had spectro jel and it worked wonders for washing my face day, night, and when I was using exfoliating masks.
After seeing the results of the cleanser, I decided to try the moisturizer. First off it smells SO bad. I'm used to strong herbal and weird Chinese herb smells, but this one caught me completely off guard and it almost made me puke! But I figured maybe it was better for my skin that way, the next day I woke up and my skin felt fairly nice. I figured wow what a good moisturizer! So I kept using it...
A couple of days later my cheek became bumpy, it spread to my jaw and my whole face was just completely breaking out.
Seeing that I had never had a really bad experience with acne, I treated it the same way I did. I picked and picked at my skin till I was left with MANY scars. Even then I was still breaking out like CRAZY!
Months and months went by and I ended up wearing a light layer of foundation and concealer to school because I couldn't find a way to stop my acne!

The solution: Thankfully for me, there were many youtube gurus out there spilling their experience on their battle with acne. I had considered going on proactiv, but once again the fact that I had to go to a store or order online made me extremely lazy.
I watched quite a number of acne videos, but only one caught my eye - gossmakeupartist, his video about his acne cure really convinced me to go out and buy some benzoyl peroxide. BUT after going to several stores and seeing the insane prices for the amount of product you get, I held off on it for a while and I am so glad I did.
I was cleaning around the house one afternoon and saw Panoxyl Antibaterial Acne Aquagel 5% lying around. It was pretty much full, and I figured why the hell not! And decided to try it.
HALLELUJAH.
My skin care routine changed dramatically, I applied it every night all over my cheek and jaw area (where I was breaking out the most, and it was what goss said he did), slept, woke up in the morning and washed it off with cetaphil and a little scrubby (similar to the ones you get with loreal face washes) and my skin felt smoother, and my acne slowly disappeared.
After using this consecutively for a month, I realized that my skin was becoming extremely sensitive to everything and I needed to step away from this product. So I began using it once a week, and the rest of the nights I used a exfoliator and vitamin e cream to moisturize. I did this routine for a couple of months now and I am glad to announce that I am ACNE FREE.
With the exception of a few break out spots, my cheek and jaw area has never felt this smooth for at least a year now, and it feels even better than before I started wearing makeup!

I am extremely glad that my sister left this product lying around, I later found out that it didn't work on her skin at all! However halfway through my routine I felt bad for using up most of her product (I finished half the tube in the time I used it), and I went to buy the same product except for oily combo skin, which is exactly my skin type. But after using that for a while, I found it was ineffective and did nothing for my skin, so I switched back to using the aquagel version.

Now all I have left is to clear up my acne scars and work on my pore and blackheads! I'm considering investing in a mia because my pores&blackheads have been a pain in the ass ever since I was 12!
But I have yet to bite the bullet and order them, so i'm going to more research/wait until I have more money.

Thank you all for reading!!
